I’m staying at home, it’s nice on my own .... there’s no virus her to infect me I’ve shopping to the door, I’ve got bog rolls galore ... (and lots of) hand sanitiser to protect me I’ve got masks for my face and plenty more to replace.... any touched by a sneeze or a sniffle I’ve got gloves by the case but it’s now commonplace ... to shun a handshake is quite accept able ..... I’ve got a pandemic gut twice the size of my butt / ......thanks to all the extra calories I’m consuming! I’ve bolted my door, you can’t visit no more ... can’t touch you – don’t know where you’ve been! Tonight I’ll meet you on zoom but I must fumigate my room ... and dis- connect the call before I turn in I’m climbing the walls, I’m haunting the halls ... they say Isolation’s effective I’m feeling confused, I’m covid abused ... I fear I’m now human defective ....... I’m bored, I’m obsessed, I’m glum I’m depressed / .........no visits, no company, no social! NO choirs NO hugs, YES booze YES drugs .... the world’s gone to Hades in a sieve NO concerts NO weddings, NO parties, NO beddings ... No waxing! And everyone’s gone native ........ I think I’m in jail, please someone post bail / .........or maybe I’m just in a global nightmare! I’m off, back to bed, there’s a pain in my head ... but no doctor will take a consultation The school’s shut up shop, the churches lost the plot... I think the queen just declared her resignation When will it end, I can no longer pretend ... I’m as sane as I used to be You may not wish to hear, but I think it’s quite clear ... I’ve gone crazy, I’m out of my tree ........... I’m doing the Pandemic Tango

They’re playing heavy punk rock on station 434... it’s rattling dishes on my shelf and hinges offa my door They’re mixing concrete to a backbeat, holy bloody hell... I need an ES-Tate agent ... I’m gonna have to bloody sell REPEAT CHORUS Well the weekends rolled around I figure Tradies gotta rest ... ’sides y’ gotta pay ‘em double or they down tools in protest So Friday night, I cranked up the party until 4....... til the coppers came a banging on my door I gave profuse apologies ‘n I turned out the light .... turned off the party wishing everyone good night (‘n slept) The sleep of the dead til 6am come around .. .it’s a fleet of road repairers ..... and they’re neighbourhood bound!
